Daniel Lopez
Biography
Daniel “DJ” Lopez (Dover, DE, He/His) is Assistant Principal at Caesar Rodney High School—a role he has held since 2011. He has 30 years in education and began his career at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Boarding School in Austin, Tx teaching 6th-grade science. After relocating to Dover, Delaware, in 1997, he stepped away from the classroom and worked as a payroll officer for a large staffing agency in Newark. He returned to the classroom at Lake Forest High School, where he taught Biology for 14 years.
Professionally, he strives to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the local community. He works closely with teachers to boost student engagement and academic success while contributing to a school culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
He had served on various educational committees, including working on statewide curriculum and testing development teams for science. During his time at Lake Forest, he was active in the teachers’ union, serving on contract negotiation teams and advocating at both the local and state level for improvements in education.
